WEEK 9 WRAP-UP!

Good afternoon rocky shore lodge week 9 blog.   Another beautiful day at Rocky Shore Lodge.  Guests are out enjoying the weather and catching fish.  Last week fish were back in their normal summer spots and few spring spots.  By the later stages of Week 9 anglers were finding fish in the 15 to 20 foot range and they were feeding on minnows, leeches, and crawlers.  Looks like the Rainbow ends at RSL or Todd’s boat.  You decide!

As everyone is aware the leech shortage is real, and we had guests procure their leeches at bait shops on their way up to the lodge.  We apologize for the major inconvenience for those who want to use leeches.

The original Rich Award winner was none other than Jim and Sam from C-2.  Nothing like Jerry when he decided to do a personal water temp check but losing 2 anchors in one week deserves a bit of a spot light.  We attempted to retrieve the anchor to no avail.  Someone beat us to the marker buoy Jim put on it unfortunately.  Not to be outdone this week, but I think a special mention should go out to Todd who lost his plug unknowingly.  Fortunately, he had to go down to his boat for something and it was midday.  Walking down the hill (The Green Mile I’ve renamed it) Todd noticed the gunnel of his boat was aligned perfectly with the dock and not sitting up 6 to 8 inches like normal.  Bilge pump was engaged and Todd found out the issue and threw in his spare plug.  Crisis averted.  I’m glad it didn’t happen after the completion of the day.  Spare plug=good idea.

Walleyes returned to their normal spots and were being caught in numbers depending on whether you were over the active school or not.  Some guys caught nice numbers in the middle of the afternoon in 10 to 15 feet of water and some were caught in the 18 foot range in large numbers.  When you see boats back on the midlake humps and they don’t move for a couple hours that usually means good things.  The smaller Smallmouth bass (bait stealers) are hanging in the shallower water on the humps.  A great place to take the kids if they don’t care about size, but want to catch numbers.  Mike from P2 darn near made the 30-Inch club and I really believe with the shape of the tail and it being a little tattered if it was in tact it

would have been 30 but alas 29.5-inches.

We had lots of nice bass caught and eaten this week, as well as perch being caught in good numbers and sizes.  Pike weren’t as prevalent this week.

Lots of Perch this week were brought in because of the beautiful weather.  People just wanted to be on the water with the low wind and sunny skies and I can’t blame them.

Week 9 Monster Fish Tournament results:

Erin (newcomer) caught a 5-Inch Smallmouth bass to capture the Micro prize.

Mike from P2 boated and released a monster 29.5-Inch Walleye!

Ethan from C-1 landed a nice 25-Inch Pike to bring in the Pike/Musky trophy!

Congratulations everyone!

The summer fish are getting picked off with slip bobbers and drop shots.  Jigs are always welcome as well.  Take care and we’ll see you soon.  Facebook is not happy with the way I’m doing these posts.  I’ll try and figure out a way to get them on Facebook if they keep deleting them.

Don’t forget to send pictures!

Tight Lines everyone!
